Question: Phil, what is the difference between engineered stone and "quartz" surfaces? I see both names thrown about and I'm confused when a potential client asks me such questions.
- Paul LePera, Union, NJ
Answer: The answer to your question is … they are one and the same. Both have quartz in them. "Engineered stone" was the original term used to define the quartz products. In an effort to distinguish their products from the competition, some manufacturers introduced terms like "quartz surfacing," which was picked up along the way by fabricators, dealers, and consumers. It has since become a rather generic, sometimes confusing, “marketing term” used throughout the industry. |
